This past weekend, the boyfriend and I drove up to Rhode Island for a little birthday getaway. We ate and drank our way through Providence and Newport, laid out by the sea, and hung out with the Vanderbilts. It was a quick trip, but packed with plenty of exploration and sightseeing.

For our stroll through the Brown University campus, I put on my version of the summer suit: a double dose of denim topped with a light gray blazer and cognac accessories. A little bit casual, a little bit collegiate and a whole lot of chic.

Does the print on this skirt look familiar? I wore a similar looking top a few weeks back and can’t get enough of the watercolor scheme. The ethereal feel is a refreshing change of pace from the city grind. And as much as I’d love to escape the concrete jungle for the entire summer, sometimes a relaxed look and a trip to the park will do the trick.

Somehow, it’s Monday again. Thankfully, I’m feeling a little more cheery than usual. Maybe it’s because of the upcoming four-day weekend or maybe it’s because it’s the start of my favorite month of the year (hellooo birthday month!).
