Getting around town is one of the easiest, yet most challenging aspects of living in NYC. Everything is in “walking distance” — my definition of which has increased from a few blocks to a few miles since I’ve moved here. To adapt, I try and create versatile outfits — looks that work while running around town for brunch, coffee, and errands. To me, comfort will always come first, but that doesn’t mean utility and creativity are mutually exclusive.
For starters, walkable shoes are key. I usually stash a pair of flip flops in my bag, but these Dolce Vita sandals were comfortable enough for a two-mile stroll from one side of the island to the other this weekend. A large, neutral tote is also a must for all the schlepping that I do. From there, anything goes. I love layering a military-inspired jacket over a feminine dress and tying it all together with a dash of leopard. And there you have it: a super easy outfit for a day around the city!

There’s something undeniably classic about a pair of jeans and a crisp, white button-up, but, as you may have noticed, my definition of classic is anything but plain. My basics usually involve playful patterns and unexpected combinations and this outfit definitely delivers a twist on otherwise timeless pieces. Polka dot and leopard? They’re the new neutrals!
