Aaaaand we’re back after a fabulous holiday weekend. My parents came into town (mom hasn’t been to NYC since 1994!), so we showed them a few of our favorite spots in the city and discovered a few new joints together. One of the highlights: finally checking out Ladurée on the Upper East Side. We went in for a box of macarons and came out with much more than expected.
As I’m sure you know, it’s not easy getting back on the grind after an extended weekend, but today’s outfit makes it slightly more bearable. I’m obsessed with this colorful bird print midi skirt from Chicwish. It’s a bit whimsy, slightly over the top and totally playful — what’s not to love? Midi skirts might be my new thing. It started with this red number and then all of a sudden, I have one in bright berry and kelly green. There’s just something undeniably feminine about it. And if you think the over-the-top shape is going to swallow you whole, think again — just make sure you balance your proportions with something chic and simple up top. Pair it with a classic button-up shirt or a Parisian inspired crop top and let the outfit speak for itself.

Loose-fitting clothing isn’t usually my jam, but I couldn’t help but fall in love with this gorgeous white swing dress. One look at the detailed lace top and I know I had to make this dress work.
First comments from the boyfriend: Are you sure you want to wear that? You look pregnant. Maybe so, but I’ll take if it means I get a faux preggers glow that comes along with the ethereal feeling of this frock. Paired with nude heels and minimal jewelry, I let the dress speak — or rather whisper — for itself.
