I can’t remember the last time I had a popsicle, but after browsing through these recipes and then stepping outside into the sweltering heat, I knew I had to get my hands on some homemade treats.  So I dashed over to Target and grabbed a pair of popsicle molds for $3.99 (each mold makes four popsicles).

Having never made popsicles before, I decided to start off with a pretty simple recipe involving 1 cup OJ, 2 cups fresh or frozen mangoes, and 2 tablespoons of honey.

Blend and pour into the molds and freeze until solid (at least 4 hours or overnight).

The result: a chilled tangy treat, tamed by the richness of the honey.  It’s a perfectly divine escape from the summer temps and will be sure to melt you away!

I know my past food-related posts haven’t portrayed me in the healthiest light. Yes, I’m a sucker for mac n’ cheese, sweet treats, and desserts, but I also have another obsession: juicing.  As soon as my friend Sarah turned me on to juicing, I immediately ordered my juicer and a recipe book and have been in love with ever since.

Raw, fresh juice is wonderfully rejuvenating and great for your energy, skin, digestion, and immune system.  It’s a quick and delicious way to take in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and other phytonutrients.  And the pleasure of making it yourself is definitely an added satisfaction.

My favorite juice is currently the Cucumber Refresher.  The combination of pears and cucumber creates a subtle, yet refreshing flavor, while the ginger root (just an inch or less) provides an energy and immune boosting zing.

Cheers and happy weekend!

If there’s one thing I love more than dessert, it’s a good-looking dessert.  And even though I’m the kind of girl that eats ice cream straight out of the carton, I still appreciate sweets that come dressed with a little pizzazz.

So when my friend Emily and I stumbled up Jean Phillippe Patisserie (she speaks French and could probably say it cooler than me) at Aria in Las Vegas, we found the perfect eye candy.

While the sweet store was stacked full of whimsical cakes, I had my eye (and camera) on the pastries decked out in bold colors and intricate details.  Here are some of my favorite sweets, including a wall mounted with giant chocolate flowers.  Nom nom!
