I’ve got one last OOTD of the year and it’s a good one.

The tricky part about ringing in the new year in NYC is that it’s usually cold AF outside. I have to fight my instinctive urge to wear sweatpants and call it a night and once I do, outfit planning for New Year’s Eve becomes all about strategy. How do you look festively fashionable without freezing your ass off before midnight?

There’s always the option to pair a puffer coat with your party dress, but I prefer to avoid the coat check at all cost, especially considering how crowded bars are on New Year’s Eve. Instead, I’m taking the long-sleeved route with this floral skater dress. Sleeves to keep me warm and velvet to keep me on trend – it’s the perfect dress to celebrate the new year. Just add pumps, a clutch and maybe one of those light-up 2017 sunglasses and I’m ready for the countdown to begin!

So pretty! Love the patterned velvet. I’m trying to strategically plan my outerwear for tomorrow night and it’s definitely a struggle! Happy New Year 🙂

This is so cute! I love this! Your post cracked me up– it’s cold AF always in IL for NYE! I am wearing tights with booties and a sequined dress… but I am certainly not going to be warm LOL!

Happy new year, and again, congrats on your feature in Style Watch! I was on the train reading it, and I shrieked!! SO amazing.

GAH This dress is gorgeous! I managed to avoid the coat check at the bar I went to as well – didn’t wear a puffer coat, just hung my wool one on the hanger at the bar.
I hope you had a fantastic NYE and best wishes in 2017!
