Okay, I don’t actually hate clothes, but I’m sick of the same old stuff you see, store after store and season after season. I’m sick of the things that I thought I “needed” or “had to have” … all of which ended up collecting dust at the back of my closet. It took a major closet purge last year (based on this life-changing book) to realize that I don’t have to buy things that I don’t absolutely love. That’s why I’ve become way more thoughtful when I go shopping.
For me, the clothes (and accessories) worth bringing home will make my heart flutter. It’s literally a visceral feeling of joy when I know I found something special and keeping an eye out for that kind of reaction has helped me curate a wardrobe that I love.
The real question though: what kind of things cause that kind of reaction for me? It’s usually something with a special detail like a beautiful print, a pretty color or a unique silhouette (like this flutter sleeve peplum top). Something far from the same old, same old. Something that will add a little spice to closet. And when you know, you just know. Anyone else get that feeling?
