Okay, in actuality, James and I shot this look while we were in Lexington, Kentucky a few weekends ago and it was still so so hot outside. I spent most of my time down south in dresses and skirts, but I really wanted to shoot this look because I knew jean season wasn’t too far away.

But there’s a reason why I’m still pairing my denim with off-the-shoulder tops instead of sweaters. Aside from the fear of passing out, it’s just another easy way to transition in between seasons. A little dash of summer, a little dash of fall – everybody wins!

A few weekends ago, I headed to Lexington, Kentucky to celebrate the marriage of one my beautiful friends Alex and her husband Evan, which got me thinking: going to wedding is so much more fun when it’s not your own.

Stay with me here… I loved every single moment of getting married, even all the hiccups and hilarious disasters that I laugh about in retrospect (we’ll save those for another time). But I think now having gone through my own wedding, I can now appreciate being a wedding guest in a whole new way.

I think about how many months/years going into the planning of a single day. Or the mixture of nerves, excitement and joy that overcome you leading up to the moment you say “I do.” Or how, despite your best efforts to pause and take it all in, everything is a whirlwind and before you know it, it’s all said and done. Just the thought of reliving that all is giving me butterflies!

But when you’re a wedding guest, the most difficult decision you have to make is what to wear (this dress was no brainer). The only butterflies you get happens while watching the bride come down the aisle (it gets me every time!). And that whirlwind sweeps you onto the dance floor, where you’re boogying to the Cupid Shuffle barefoot (also gets me every time, ha!). Plus, you actually have time to eat so there’s that.

Would I ever want to relive my own wedding? Sure, maybe … but I would much rather be celebrating my friends and family and their own adventures of love!

In case you missed on Instagram yesterday, I have officially embarked on a new decade (THIRTY!). But instead of mourning the end of a major chapter of my life, I said goodbye with a bang. And a killer dress, of course.

Since my birthday fell on a Tuesday this year, we celebrated earlier over the weekend with friends. I wore this dress, with a plunging neckline and gorgeous appliqué details for the perfect mix of sultry, sweet and “Everyone look at me, it’s my birthday!” vibes. It’s hard to believe that my 20’s are nearly over and that so many major milestones happened over the past 10 years: graduating college, moving to NYC, getting hitched and starting new adventures – both big and small – everyday. I’m planning to share more of my thoughts on turning 30 tomorrow, but for now, we party. Cheers!
