If rosé is summer in a bottle, then this white maxi is summer in a dress.

This dress is actually an updated version of a white eyelet dress that I’ve had for years. When I saw the pink floral print, I just couldn’t help myself – I had to have it! I love this dress because there’s smocking in the back, making it super easy to throw on. I recently wore this to the wineries out on the North Fork of Long Island, but even if you’re not planning to frolic in a vineyard anytime soon, it would be perfect for summer bridal showers, baby showers or family photos.

In case you missed it, I recently gave birth to our baby boy, Theo! I loved styling my bump over the past nine months, but now that I’m focused on postpartum recovery, I’m opting for dresses that are super soft and simple, but still put together (because getting dressed and putting on a little makeup can do wonders to break up those early newborn days!).

Enter this black strappy dress from River Island – a not-new, but new-to-me brand that launched on Nordstrom.com earlier this spring. It’s hard to go wrong with a black dress, but this one has a few special details that I especially love: the ultra thin straps give this dress a modern feel. Plus, the fabric is stretchy and soft and has a gorgeous texture to it, which makes it both so comfy and a bit more interesting than your basic LBD. It’s great as an everyday dress, or elevated enough to wear for a special occasion – it also comes in this gorgeous shade of sky blue if a pop of color is more your speed!

Nordstrom also has a bunch of other cute pieces from River Island, including handbags (love the functionality of this bag/pouch combo!), denim and even swimwear!

I recently wore this $35 dress to a friend’s bridal shower and it was a hit!

When you’re 36 weeks pregnant like I am in these photos, you might not want to shell out a ton of cash for special occasion dresses. The other week, I got to celebrate one of my dear friend at her bridal shower in Brooklyn, and found this pink off the shoulder maxi dress for only $35 and two-day shipping (I mean, hello leg slit!). I love that it’s non-maternity, but bump friendly (as most flowy dresses are!).

The bodice is smocked and stretching and the dress itself comes in a few different colors and prints. I think it would actually be a great dress for maternity photos, your baby shower or a gender reveal! As for post-partum? I have every intention of wearing this dress once the bump is gone!
