How to Wear Over the Knee Boots for Fall

Say hello to my Stuart Weitzman Lowland OTK boots. I bought them last winter, but you haven’t seen them on the blog yet because I’ve been too scared to wear them outside. I know, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of investing in something so nice… but besides the fact that I was petrified of getting them dirty, I also wasn’t quite sure how to nail the over-the-knee boot trend – especially considering that I lean on the shorter side of the vertical spectrum.

Turn out you can wear OTK boots with virtually anything. Over-the-knee boots are especially great when you’re transitioning in between seasons – you know, that magical period of time when you can still wear short dresses or skirts without tights. So I decided to dive right in by pairing my Lowlands with a long sleeve floral dress and a punchy tassel clutch. Fit wise, the boots run pretty high up my thigh (about 3+ inches above my knee), so I slouched them down a little bit so that you can see a little peak of skin. I love the fact that I can wear a dress, but still feel covered up enough during the fall. Don’t be surprised if this is my new favorite combo!

We had our first taste of fall over the past weekend and dare I say, I’m actually excited for the chilly mornings and even chillier nights. We opened up all of the windows in our apartment and I started to pull out my favorite prints and textures for fall. For me, florals will continue to play a big role in my wardrobe, but in moodier vibes like this cami. I also plan to experiment with plenty of suede since it’s such a must have texture for the season. This midi-length wrap skirt makes for a versatile foundation to any feminine, fall outfit – the perfect seasonal twist on a wardrobe staple. Another weekend of striped swing dresses and all of the sunshine. TGI-freaking-F guys.

I was in San Diego last weekend hanging out with my family (and forcing my dad to take my photos), Laguna Beach over the week for work and now I’m heading up to LA for a few days of play with my best friend. You know I love NYC, but I’ll also take any chance I get to be back on the west coast.

Can you blame me? It’s been bare legs and light layers during my entire time here. I only packed a jean jacket and this cardigan for “chilly” nights. For the most part though, you’ll find me making the most of easy knit dresses like this striped trapeze number or this petal print frock.
