In case you missed on Instagram yesterday, I have officially embarked on a new decade (THIRTY!). But instead of mourning the end of a major chapter of my life, I said goodbye with a bang. And a killer dress, of course.

Since my birthday fell on a Tuesday this year, we celebrated earlier over the weekend with friends. I wore this dress, with a plunging neckline and gorgeous appliqué details for the perfect mix of sultry, sweet and “Everyone look at me, it’s my birthday!” vibes. It’s hard to believe that my 20’s are nearly over and that so many major milestones happened over the past 10 years: graduating college, moving to NYC, getting hitched and starting new adventures – both big and small – everyday. I’m planning to share more of my thoughts on turning 30 tomorrow, but for now, we party. Cheers!

I guess you could say this past weekend’s adventures were full of color and … er… character.

If you follow me on Instagram (@skirttherules_) or Snapchat (SkirtTheRules), you probably saw that James and I were eating, drinking and wandering our way through Seattle. We were visiting our friends Sarah and Ryan. There wasn’t much on our to do list besides meeting their 7-month-old Logan and drinking all of the coffee. On our first day, we got a few touristy things out of the way: visiting Pike Place Market, the first Starbucks location and – of course – the Gum Wall.

Shop My Makeup:

The wall started accumulating gum back in the 90’s and in November 2015, it was scraped and scrubbed for the first time in twenty years. Well thankfully, almost six months later and the wall is back to its eccentric little self. I can only imagine what twenty years of chewed up bubble gum looks like, but six months worth is quite enough for me. I didn’t add my own piece to the wall, but I did rock this equally colorful off-the-shoulder top and turquoise tassel necklace for good measure. Those Friday feelings have got me smiling from ear to ear.

TGI-freakin’-F!! I always get a little giddy on Friday mornings, but there’s a little extra pep in my step today. Maybe it’s the promise of gorgeous spring weather that has me counting down the hours until I can break free from the office and be outside. James and I actually shot this outfit two weeks ago when it was freakishly freezing for April. But ever since it was socially acceptable to call it “spring,” I’ve been committed to dressing like it. Because who wouldn’t want to wear a swingy dress and gladiator sandals in 40°F weather? Well the season is finally here, so I’m off to play. Happy weekending, loves!
