Out of all the holiday-inspired outfits I’ve put together so far, this one’s my favorite.

I wore this green striped midi skirt this past weekend while James and I explored Midtown East. We paid a visit to the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, aka the home of Serena in Gossip Girl, and one of the most iconic hotels in New York City. One of my favorite things about Christmas in the city is how all of the hotels and shops really do it up for the holidays. If you know where to look, there are giant Christmas trees everywhere around town.

Anyways, if you’re still looking for the perfect holiday outfit (hurry up, time’s ticking!), there’s this little red dress and this plaid skirt that I wore earlier in the week. And there are these party-ready outfits that I shared yesterday. But to me, there’s really nothing more festively feminine than a gorgeous midi skirt. Halloween was nice and all, but now the real festivities are about to begin.

I’m talking about holiday party dressing. You better believe there will be a whole lot of it around these parts for the next two months. I’m kicking off the festivities with this showstopper of a dress. I’m a feminine girl at heart, so I was over the moon when this dress came in the mail the other week. I love the oversized print and the full-shaped skirt and I felt like only a bold red lip and matching heels could do it justice.

For reference, I’m 5’2″, 115 lbs and wearing a size small. The waist fits perfectly, but the arm hole is a little loose in the back. I might get the bottom hemmed just a smidge so that my bow heels can come out and say hello! With a blog name like mine, I’ve owned a lot of skirts in my life … but nothing like this one.

Seriously though, how insane is the lace and fringe detail on this thing? When I saw it on a new-to-me retail site, it was love at first sight. Plus, it’s nothing like the midi skirts upon midi skirts that I already own. This one’s a statement piece that I’ll happily let do all the talking.

For those of you wondering about the quality of these China-based retailers like Choies, Shein and Chicwish… I’ve had pretty good experiences from all of them so far. If you want to go for a statement piece (like this gorgeous lace dress or this giant houndstooth print skirt), but don’t want to break the bank, then these are the places to try it. I will say that I’ve never had to return anything, so that’s something to consider (I hear the process is difficult). So if you’re in between sizes, I would err on the side of sizing up (some pieces run small or short in length). Hope this helps!
