Summer is the time to kick back and get a little free spirited. It’s a time when the only reading to do is for leisure and the only items on the agenda involve travels and adventures. It’s already one month into summer break (time flies!) and I’ve been embracing the easy spirit with a loose dress, wavy hair, and big ol’ shades. Hope you’re enjoying it as much I am!

For over a year now, I’ve had this neon green skirt sitting in my closet without any idea what to do with it. When I bought it online, the color was called “citronelle” and it didn’t look nearly as intense as it does in person (even the picture doesn’t do it justice). So for a year, I let it sit in my closet while it taunted me with its radioactive glow.

I finally decided to take a stab at incorporating the skirt into an outfit by balancing the intensity of the neon with neutral pieces. Paired with a dark gray top and my new favorite cut-out nude heels (perfect for elongating the legs), the neutrals let the neon shine without blinding any bystanders.

A neon outfits is definitely manageable when tamed with the right neutral pieces. And my favorite neutral accessory happens to be furry and scurrying through the bottom photo.

For Memorial Day Weekend, the bf and I escaped the heat and spent a few days in San Diego.  The ocean breeze provided the perfect climate for lightweight blazers and long dresses.

On top of the fact that this dress was only $10 at H&M, I fell in love it with for its thick white & marigold stripes and fun, flowing shape (it’s perfect for twirling around!).  I topped it with a cobalt blue blazer, not just for a little warmth, but because I love the combination of big, bold colors for summer.

Definitely taking a piece of the beach back with me when I go back to work tomorrow.  Hope everyone had a wonderful MDW!
