After two weeks of finals, I’m back!  And although I’ve been busy … “studying,” I also made time for some retail therapy and stocked up on sweaters and other much needed cold weather gear.  Seriously, what I have been wearing for the past 25 winters?

One of my favorite finds are these tweed shorts from H&M.  Tweed is such a cool winter texture, but can sometimes look a little granny (loooove you grandma). So make it more youthful by pairing tweed shorts or a miniskirt with tights and chunky heeled boots.

It’s been a while since I’ve mixed patterns (here and here), so I thought I’d give it a whirl during the “colder” weather.  Mixing plaid and stripes seemed like the easiest option, especially when the lines are roughly the same thickness.  The black and white stripes of the scarf tie together with the skirt, while the purple and pink bring color to an otherwise monochromatic look.

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost December when it was a sunny 80°F yesterday. This weekend, I picked up a few thick-knit sweaters for the winter, but also grabbed this fun, lightweight version to tide me over during this crazy summer-fall-winter limbo.  I promise you, there’ll come a time where I’m not wearing shorts this “winter.”
