Bump Style – Skirt The Rules | NYC Style Blogger http://skirttherulesblog.com NYC Style Blogger Mon, 24 May 2021 16:32:33 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Everyone Needs a White Skirt in Their Wardrobe http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/27/everyone-needs-a-white-skirt-in-their-wardrobe/ http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/27/everyone-needs-a-white-skirt-in-their-wardrobe/#respond Thu, 27 May 2021 11:00:00 +0000 http://skirttherulesblog.com/?p=20826

Sharing a spring/summer outfit that I’d wear – regardless of whether I was pregnant or not!

Light wash denim jacket (XS) / Navy floral crop top (S) / White midi skirt with pockets (SP – only $23) / Rattan clutch / Tan suede espadrille wedges (6.5 TTS) / Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in ‘Pillow Talk’

Year after year, the white midi skirt is the MVP of my spring and summer wardrobe. And yet surprisingly, I feel like it’s a difficult to find an affordable option around this time of year. Well, I scoured Amazon for one that would fit me both during pregnancy and postpartum – think flared silhouette, midi length and of course, an elastic waistband – and this white skirt fit the bill! Plus, it has pockets!

I personally love pairing my skirts with a cute crop top like this navy floral bralette because you don’t have to worry about extra fabric bunching up at the waist. Want a few more ideas on how to wear your white midi skirt? I styled mine four different ways here!

A Maternity Dress So Good I Bought It Twice http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/24/a-maternity-dress-so-good-i-bought-it-twice/ http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/24/a-maternity-dress-so-good-i-bought-it-twice/#respond Mon, 24 May 2021 14:27:43 +0000 http://skirttherulesblog.com/?p=20813

I own this maternity tank dress in both black and white!

White maternity tank dress (S) / Light wash denim jacket (XS) / Brown straw circle bag / Brown suede espadrille sandals (6.5 TTS) / Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in ‘Pillow Talk’

As I’ve mentioned before, I haven’t spent a lot on maternity clothes during my pregnancy aside from everyday maternity leggings and maternity workout leggings. I’d much prefer to invest in pieces that I can wear both now and postpartum. This ruched tank dress from Amazon is an exception though.

I first purchased the black tank dress when I was about 30 weeks pregnant, and now I wish I had gotten it sooner! It became my go-to dress when we traveled to and from Hawaii for our babymoon, during my last few weeks of work and pretty much every weekends (I styled it four different ways here!). I loved it so much that I got it in white, which is definitely makes the bump stand out more, but I think is so perfect as a summer maternity dress!

Four Ways to Wear a Black Maternity Dress http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/17/four-ways-to-wear-a-black-maternity-dress/ http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/17/four-ways-to-wear-a-black-maternity-dress/#comments Mon, 17 May 2021 11:00:00 +0000 http://skirttherulesblog.com/?p=20795

This black maternity dress might be the best $23 you spend during your entire pregnancy.

Throughout my pregnancy, I’ve been managing to wear clothes that are mostly non-maternity, but bump friendly (think flowy dresses like this and midi skirts with elastic waistbands). Of course, I wouldn’t have survived with out my fleece-lined maternity leggings during the winter, these super comfy active leggings for working out and running around tun, and this black maternity tank dress.

I didn’t buy this ruched tank dress until my third dress, but man I wish I had purchased it earlier because I think it would be great for all stages of the bump – plus, I think it’ll be great for my “fourth trimester” postpartum too. It comes in a bunch of different colors, but black is obviously the most flattering. Throw on a camel sweater blazer for the office or a faux leather moto jacket for date night – it’s a great foundation for whatever kind outfit you need it to be!

Black maternity tank dress (S) / Chloe mini Marcie gray crossbody bag / Similar brown slide sandals

Black maternity tank dress (S) / Camel sweater blazer (XXS) / Black faux leather tote bag with zipper / Similar leopard flats

Black maternity tank dress (S) / Beige faux leather moto jacket (XS) / Gucci Marmont wallet on chain / Nude mules

Black maternity tank dress (S) / Light wash denim jacket (XS) / Mom baseball cap / White Keds sneakers (6.5 TTS)
