Nursery – Skirt The Rules | NYC Style Blogger http://skirttherulesblog.com NYC Style Blogger Mon, 17 May 2021 07:24:25 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Our Nursery Artwork from Minted http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/18/our-nursery-artwork-from-minted/ http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/05/18/our-nursery-artwork-from-minted/#respond Tue, 18 May 2021 11:00:00 +0000 http://skirttherulesblog.com/?p=20811

Sharing a peek into baby boy’s nursery!

Blue floral maxi dress (wearing an S – non-maternity, bump friendly!) / World map print (c/o Minted) / Navy abstract print 1 & 2 (c/o Minted – use code DANGFRAMES for 20% off frames on framed art prints) / Mint blackout curtains / Faux bird of paradise plant / Gold floor lamp / Wooden bookshelves / White wooden bassinet (c/o) / Striped storage boxes / Cream glider and storage ottoman / Blue area rug

If you had asked me a few weeks ago how prepping for baby was going along, I would’ve told you it wasn’t! While I had all of these visions of nursery decor inspo in my head, I’m a serial procrastinator and it wasn’t until t-minus one month that we really got our butts in gear! In late April, we finally shared our baby registry essentials with family and friends, and started buying a few other foundational pieces like this glider and storage ottoman, these wooden bookshelves and coastal blue blackout curtains.

Because we’re splitting our second bedroom between our office and our nursery, the space needs to be a balance of visually stimulating, but also put together. That’s why we’re relying so heavily on neutrals (whites, creams, woods) with a few pops of coastal colors sprinkled in between.

To tie the space together, Mint graciously gifted us these fun, yet timeless framed prints – we’re planning to put this beige map print over his crib (we’re using this white wooden bassinet for now) so he can dream of all the places he’ll visit one day. Then there are these two navy abstract prints, which we plan to put over his changing table as a fun way to explore different shapes. With each of these prints, you can actually customize the color palette and also the frames! And use code DANGFRAMES for 20% off frames for any framed art prints through May 31, 2021.

It’s finally coming together and I can’t wait for baby boy to see what is surely our favorite place in the apartment now!

Our Nursery Decor Inspo http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/03/25/our-nursery-decor-inspo/ http://skirttherulesblog.com/2021/03/25/our-nursery-decor-inspo/#comments Thu, 25 Mar 2021 11:00:00 +0000 http://skirttherulesblog.com/?p=20537

We’re starting to design our nursery and here’s the vibe we’re going for!

Navy abstract wall art #1 and #2 / Babyletto Gelato convertible crib / Olive green dresser / Gray area rug / Sloth stuffed animal / Babyletto Kiwi cream glider and recliner / White pom pom straw storage baskets / Beige line wall decals

Our soon-to-be nursery is currently our office, and with flexible work-from-home plans still in effect for the foreseeable future, it will likely be a shared space for a while (at least until baby is old enough to start demanding some privacy – ha!). Our NYC apartment is light, bright and with modern coastal influence (think Serena & Lily vibes), and I want baby boy’s nursery to reflect that.

I want the space to be fun for him (love these wall decals and pom pom baskets to stash all of his toys), but I also don’t want the decor to be obnoxiously baby-ish – if you know what I mean! Most of the furniture will be neutral, but I’m thinking one or two pops of color like this navy crib or this olive green dresser/changing table – it’s such an unexpected color, but still feels timeless. The one thing we’ve purchased for him already? This super soft, adorable plush sloth, who we’ve already named Mo (short for Molasses, LOL!).

Navy crib / Animal musical mobile / Gray area rug / Faux rubber plant / Navy pom pom woven storage baskets / Cream glider with ottoman / Fox stuffed animal / United States map wall art / Natural wood changing table dresser

Natural wooden crib with trundle drawer / Light gray glider and recliner / Navy children’s bookshelves / Faux eucalyptus plant / White changing table dresser with leather handles / Be Brave print / Blue and gray abstract area rug / Giraffe stuffed animal / Black and white woven storage baskets
