Never Thought I’d Say: I’m Becoming a Pants Person

It’s no secret that my favorite thing to wear – whether it’s for work or on a weekend – is a dress. But lately, pants have quickly been claiming a significant stake in my wardrobe. And thanks to this perfect pair, I think it’s safe to say I’m becoming a pants person.

When I first landed my job working for Ann Taylor’s corporate office, I got rid of all of my suits – pants included. It was an incredibly casual work environment. I wore swing dresses, jeans and even rompers in the office and every day felt like I was dressing for the weekend. It wasn’t until I started working at my current job, which has more of a business casual dress code, that I started re-introducing pants into my work wear.

It started with these ankle pants, which I stocked up in a variety of colors before I left Ann. Paired with a simple blouse, it was a simple outfit that made me look more polished and professional. During the winter, the combo basically my go to work outfit. But in the summer, I gravitate toward more flowy pants. Enter these crisp white culottes (which are currently part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!). They are just so damn effortlessly cool.

I wore them last week on the blog, but had to do a little remix with this red and navy striped blouse (also part of the #NSale). I think the combo is a great transition outfit with fall feels up top, summer on the bottom, but both pieces are lightweight enough that they work right now too. My secret to finding great fitting pants? I go for any pair that are cropped or ankle length, because those will typically look full length on me (for reference, I’m 5’2″). This strategy works for all of my jeans too!
