You know I’m a dresses and skirts girl through and through, but lately, I’ve been loving a simple top and jeans combo. Except this ruffled cold top are anything but simple.

The cold shoulder has been a trend for the past few years now – originally as a summer fling and lingering long into fall and winter (hellooo cold shoulder sweaters!). For in between seasons, I still love a good short sleeve cold shoulder top, but the shoulder straps are thicker for a little bit more coverage. I love the ruffle detail down the sides and this shade of pretty dusty pink. This top is actually on sale for $29 and comes in tons of colors for the season – I’m thinking I might need it in black, navy and olive. Excessive? Maybe. Expensive? Definitely not!

Another piece in heavy rotation right now are my favorite step hem denim leggings. I got them on sale during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but they still ring up for under $100 at full price. When I first saw the step hem trend, I thought it was kind of silly. Like, someone just cut the front piece of your jeans? But why? Turns out, I think they look super flatter and help elongate your legs. These pair in particular feel like denim leggings – they’re so comfy and they come in petite sizes! I’d just recommend sizing down one size to allow for stretch. They’re already starting to bag around my knees.

Finally, we have this studded sandals. I’ve been eyeing the designer version for so long now, that I almost considered shelling out major money for them (except I just couldn’t justify it). Thankfully, these pair are a fraction of the price. At only $54, you could literally buy 20 pairs for the same price as the designer version – which, coincidentally enough, is nearly how many different colors and heel heights it comes in. I’m realizing that my style is 1) becoming more neutral focused and 2) more laidback on weekends, because comfort is key and this outfit definitely fits the bill.

I wish it was cool enough to wear denim here in DC – we’ve been having a heat wave and it was 90 degrees today!
